Practitioners: All individuals listed here have identified themselves as LGBTQ+ affirming. You can also use the search bar to look for specific services like “OBGYN” to further narrow down providers. Nobody is going to give everyone the best experience, but these folks have identified they care about your safety and comfort. If you have any issues, please let us know.

Note: Practitioners are unable to provide gender affirming medical care to minors in North Dakota at this time, but are still listed like they can for when the HB 1254 is deemed unconstitutional. Trans and gender diverse minors are still able to get mental health care in this state and can travel to MN for medical care.

Information Asked

Type of Service

  • Mental Health – You’d generally see the provider to talk about Mental Health concerns.
  • Primary Health – You’d generally see the provider to talk about Physical Health Concerns
  • Specialist – Catchall for anything that isn’t general mental or physical health, such as voice training or surgery.

Occupation

  • Each provider can list their job title. Generally things like “Nurse Practitioner,” “Endocrinologist,” or “Licensed Clinical Social Worker.” No abbreviations will be used, all letters are fully spelled out with exception of OBYGN.

Ages Served

  • All Ages – Anyone
  • Adults – Anyone over 18
  • Minors – Anyone Under 18
  • Some Providers have specific ranges like Adolescence or will be listed as 14+

Insurance – Always Call to Verify

  • No Insurance – Does not take any insurance
  • Most Insurance – Expect they can take general plans like Sanford or Essentia
  • Most Insurance + Medicaid/Medicare – All usual plans and Medicaid/Medicare

Payment Model

  • Standard Business Model – Not listed if they choose this, expect to be charged and owe money
  • Limited SFS – a Sliding Fee Scale Model where business tries to work with you in some way
  • SFS – A sliding Fee Scale Model where costs are typically reduced based on income

Telehealth

  • Provider can offer Telehealth to listed cities – ND (North Dakota) SD (South Dakota) MN (Minnesota). Some providers have listed telehealth, but their service is clearly physical, such as surgery. In this case it usually means consultations can be made through video.

New Referrals

  • Couples – Provider will see new referrals for couples
  • Families – Provider will see new referrals for Families (Parent/Kid).
  • Emotional Support Pet – Provider will write letter for Emotional Support Pet. Not a guarantee they are able to write one, but will see and assess patients for one.

  • Gender Affirming Therapy – Mental Health care to talk through gender dysphoria
  • WPATH Letter – Provider can write a letter of support for surgery
  • Hormone Therapy – Provider can prescribe hormone therapy for transition
  • PrEP – Provider can prescribe PrEP for HIV/AID prevention.
  • Hysterectomy – Provider can perform Hysterectomies
  • Top Surgery – Provider performs Chest Augmentation/Reduction/Mastectomy.

Note: Other surgeries were not asked, because no provider in state currently offers orchiectomy, bottom surgery, or other transition related surgeries not listed above.

  • Gender Diverse – Provider is confident and comfortable working with Trans, non-binary, genderfluid, etc patients.
  • HIV/Aids -Provider is confident and comfortable working with individuals living with HIV/Aids.
  • Neurodivergent – Provider is confident and comfortable working with folks who are Neurodivergent
  • Autistic – Provider is confident and comfortable working with folks who are Autistic.
  • Kink/Multiple Partners – Provider is confident and comfortable working Alternative Life Styles, Kink, Polyamary, Etc.
  • Chemical Dependency – Provider is confident and comfortable working with clients struggling with Chemical Dependency.
  • BIPOC: Provider is confident and comfortable working with BIPOC populations, for non-BIPOC providers this indicates a high level of knowledge, training, experience. With the assertion they will be safer than average.
